This Tutorial may help you. Updating is like installing a new theme. WordPress stores the dynamic data such as; pages, posts, contents, settings, menus etc. in database, not in any Theme files. So updating/installing theme will not affect those data. You will just need to configure the settings from Appearance > Theme Options once installed the Updated Version.
