Featured Image is an Important Part of NewsPress Theme. The Featured Image will be shown in the Slider and with every News/Post. You can select set a Featured Image during Post/News Creation. You can also set the First Attached Image as Featured Image. You can set a Common Image as Featured Image if not set any with a Post/News during Creating/Editing. But, you should consider something during the Settings of Featured Image Options through WP-Admin > Appearance > NewsPress Options > Featured Image
You can also Disable the Featured Image in Single Post/News View during Post/News Creation/Editing
