Theme Options data, posts, pages contents and all dynamic data is stored in a database. Not in any Theme File. So Theme update doesn’t affect the site’s data. If you want to update VIA FTP you need to extract the zip folder first. Then you copy > Paste the inner folder to the Themes directory, not the extracted directly. Suppose when you will extract the travel-extend.zip file you will find travel-extend > travel-extend > files. You should copy > Paste the travel-extend > travel-extend

Please create blank page with any name like “My Galleries” and set the page template “All Galleries”. Publish that page and copy the page url. Paste the page url in Theme Options.

D5 CreationThis Tutorial may help you. Updating is like installing a new theme. WordPress stores the dynamic data such as; pages, posts, contents, settings, menus etc. in database, not in any Theme files. So updating/installing theme will not affect those data. You will just need to configure the settings from Appearance > Theme Options once installed the Updated Version.
